World Series Final Game Captures Over 50 Million Viewers Across the US, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The nail-biting extended matchup that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run drew a combined 51M viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japan territories. MLB stated this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 showdown between the Minnesota Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest drew 27.33 million audience members on Fox channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a 16% increase over the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 ranked seventh, Game 5 was 8th, and the third game finished in 13th place.

International Audience Numbers

In Canada, the game averaged 11.6M viewers on the Sportsnet network and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – in which Fall Classic MVP Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – drew over 13 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-game series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen audience growth for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the Game 1 broadcast on Univision, the complete US viewership was over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded over 8 million watchers, an eight percent increase over last year and Fox’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
